Pakistan: Jamaat-e-Islami party to demonstrate in Karachi Feb. 19

he Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) party plans to rally at New MA Jinnah Road in Karachi, Pakistan, Feb. 19 to protest against the delay of local elections. Organizers have yet to announce the start time of the event. Dozens to hundreds of people could participate in the protest.

Authorities are likely to deploy additional security in the vicinity of the protest site. Localized transport disruptions are likely, especially if demonstrators march on or block roadways. Police may disperse crowds if gatherings become disruptive, possibly leading to clashes.
